Hello.
I'm using the new kernels. Everything seems to be working fine. I had
one slight problem though, I can use my midi interface (Midiman UNO) if
I plug it in while the machine is running, otherwise it will prevent the
alsa modules from running.
I have these messages in /var/log/messages
Sep 20 20:15:40 localhost kernel: ALi pci audio not found or
device busy.
Sep 20 20:15:40 localhost modprobe:
/lib/modules/2.4.22-6.ll.rh90/kernel/sound/snd-ali5451.o: Sep 20
20:15:40 localhost modprobe: init_module: No such device
Sep 20 20:15:40 localhost modprobe:
/lib/modules/2.4.22-6.ll.rh90/kernel/sound/snd-ali5451.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.22-6.ll.rh90/kernel/sound/snd-ali5451.o failed
Sep 20 20:15:40 localhost modprobe: Hint: insmod errors can be
caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or
IRQ parameters.
Sep 20 20:15:40 localhost modprobe: You may find more
information in syslog or the output from dmesg
Sep 20 20:15:40 localhost modprobe:
/lib/modules/2.4.22-6.ll.rh90/kernel/sound/snd-ali5451.o: insmod
snd-ali5451 failed Sep 20 20:15:40 localhost alsasound: Starting
sound driver snd-ali5451 failed
While looking at this problem I also found out acpi is not running on my
Toshiba laptop. I'm not sure if this was working on the previous
kernels. Again, in /var/log/messages:
Sep 20 20:15:28 localhost kernel: Asus Laptop ACPI Extras
version 0.24a
Sep 20 20:15:28 localhost kernel: Couldn't get the DSDT table
header
Sep 20 20:15:28 localhost kernel: Error registering Asus
Laptop ACPI Extras Driver
Sep 20 20:15:28 localhost kernel: -0420: *** Error:
Could not allocate an object descriptor
Thanks
