[PlanetCCRMA] apt-get conflict resolution suspect?

Perhaps someone could comment on the conflicts reported by apt-get newly 
installed on my RedHat 8.0 system, and the resolution that apt-get 

I understand the "Obsoletes". I don't understand the "Conflicts" and the 
suggested resolution looks a little harsh!
