it's not about Lisp.  i didn't suggest cm adopt XML as its native
representation but that, instead of exporting to a number of
different niche formats, it export to one particular powerful one
and then leverage off the massive amount of existing support for
that format to tie in all kinds of external slave apps (if so
desired).  sort of like putting your CD up for sale at a retailer
instead of going from door to door.  true, XML has not been
designed with elegance in mind, but whether your retailer's
furniture doesn't live up to your designer standards really
doesn't matter, does it?

i think its pretty trivial as it is already to write most cm
objects out in XML--that's why i made the suggestion in the first
place :)
