Thanks for the that Fernando. I have just got an F8 and have the firmware
upgrade installed. I want to use ambisonics in a new project. Much as I
would like the Sennheiser it costs too much for me so I am looking at making
mic using a 3D print mount for 4/8 capsules.

Subject: [SpHEAR-devel] Zoom F8 vs SpHEAR

Hi all,

A quick note for those of you that have a Zoom F8. Maybe you had noticed,
but just in case, there is a new firmware upgrade. Version 4.00 includes an
"Ambisonics mode" that could be useful. This is meant to be used for the
Ambeo microphone, and one particular mode could be useful to SpHEAR users
(user?).

It can record all four capsules (A-format) and monitor in stereo, presumably
doing an A-B conversion and stereo microphone rendering. It also
automatically links all four channels, etc. I have not had a chance to test
yet, so I don't know if the A-B conversion and stereo monitoring does
filtering tailored to the Ambeo... still would be useful for monitoring
anyway, even if the frequency response is not ideal.

PS: just now starting to catch up after a LONG Summer long marathon setting
up a new 56.8 speaker array in our small concert hall, the Stage, inaugural
concerts last week (Wed/Thu). We played full 3D surround pieces, including
5th/6th order periphonic Ambisonics, and it all sounded great (if I may say
so). 44 seats in the sweet spot :-)
