I remember Linux Torvalds said somewhere that shared libraries are 
actually a design flaw because of the complexity it generates in some 
systems. There is no reason to use libraries that  weren't reviewed and 
tested by anyone, unless you're competent enough to understand what's 
involved and read, review and test yourself. In this case, you should be 
able to be in touch with the core development team on top of packaging.
