[PlanetCCRMA] soundcard help

a bit off topic but I was wondering if anyone came across such a problem 
before.
I have a saffire LE firewire card and just lost the first 2 outputs. for 
some reason then became very faint with extremly low levels. It was 
working fine on thursday afternoon. Then one of my colleagues was running 
into problems with her sound interface on the MAC. My saffire worked so I 
lent it to her to continue with the rehearsal. This morning when I plugged 
it in we could barely hear anything from outputs 1&2 (eventually I 
discovered that 3&4 are still ok). I tried under linux/windows and a mac 
and it's the same. There is a win application to monitoor the card and it 
show channels 1&2 playing ok (though still barely audible).
I tried searching online for some help but couldn't find anything useful. 
If anyone has some ideas about what might be wrong (and if/how it might be 
fixed) please let me know.
