I downloaded the kernel listed below from the testing repository.

Last night I installed on my Lenovo laptop T60p (ATI).  It has been running smoothly ever since. WRT music:

My set up is qjackctl, aeolus, rosegarden connected together.  I set jackd:
Frames/Period: 128
Sample Rate: 48000
Periods/Buffer: 3 (latency: 8msec)

midi from rosegarden plays aeolus without any xruns.  I do get some xruns when I quite rosegarden.  If I set Period/Buffer to 2, jackd will not launch.  If Periods/Buffer is 3 and I move Frames/Period to 64 (4msec), the song plays with occasional xruns.  All in all the performance seems comparable (maybe better) to recent rt versions.
