You need to have a cable supplied with the card (lots of connectors). I
don't think there are any controls in the envy24control just for MIDI. I
believe you need to use qjackctl and on the connect button look for the
MIDI tab to see if there are any connections, clients, etc. AFAIK, you
don't need to start jack in order to use MIDI. Otherwise the application
should handle ALSA MIDI directly.
cat /proc/asound/devices
should give you: sequencer and raw midi.
