Hi,
I've been using the ipw945 packages installed directly from Freshrpms and
they work fine in my laptop with Fedora 7. The packages installed are:
http://moonshine.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=397 (dkms-ipw3945)
http://moonshine.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=401 (ipw3945d)
http://moonshine.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=399 (ipw3945-firmware)
The first one requires the kernel-devel and dkms packages to install. After
installing and rebooting my wireless was working (no extra tweaking needed
and also the light and switch on the front of the laptop worked) and better
than with the stock fedora kernel and it's iwl3945 module. I've been able to
connect to different public wireless access points with and without
encryption but sometimes it takes more than one try. I used the same
packages from freshrpms with Fedora Core 6 before on the same laptop and it
connected much easier.
Cheers,
Hector
