I did install that package after I couldn't get it to load, and it
still doesn't work; exactly the same problem before and after.

I'm using the driver from the nvidia website, x86 version 1.0-9746-pkg1.

I have also now looked at the livna driver, but it is built for the
2.6.18-1 kernel, and the planetCCRMA kernel is 2.6.16-1.

At a guess (I do not know much about how linux works) I would have to
say that the kernel is looking in the wrong place for it on startup, and
it works immediately after the installer has installed it only because
the installer has issued a command to load the module from a location it
knows.... if that makes sense!

Thanks,
