I think the issue relates to Win98 (and possibly older Windows
computers). The FC5 Samba client will access shares (mount.cifs) from
NT/win2k/winxp, but I have been unsuccessful trying to access a share
from win98. My FC3 samba client has no difficulty mounting the Win98
share.
I have been unable to find any FC5 information relating to the problem.
The file type changed to cifs, so that also created some confusion. I
think that's what the thread is about. BUT, even using the mount.cifs
command syntax, I'm unable to mount a win98 share - only newer windows
shares.
