BTW, Now that FreeBob is part of FC-6, how is the status of  Echo's
AudioFire. The FreeBob web site keeps saying that no one has ever
approached Echo and that these sound cards use the BridgeCo chipset.

Are PreSonus cards a good option ?  

Indeed I should ask: is fireWire a soundcard option now ?
