I'm using KDE, and using the superuser filemanager, go to /var/log/messages.
These are datestamped, so you will have to work your way through the dates to
find the log entry that you're looking for. You can always open a terminal if
you're using Gnome, su to root, and type. cat /var/log/messages . There is
more than 1 messages log going back a few days. Look in /var/log . They are
named, messages , messages.1 , messages.2 , etc.

I must admit that using cat /var/log/messages on KDE, I can't find the message
that I can find using the superuser filemanager. I seem to be missing a days
worth of entries. A bit bizarre, but that's computers for you.

Nigel.
