SuperCollider compiles if you download your own, works fine,uses scons.
a note though: the devs have switched it from CVS to SVN, so checkout  
is different and i don't think that's noted anywhere yet.
should be:
(after installing subversion...)
$svn checkout https://user@svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/supercollider/ 
trunk SuperCollider
you can checkout to any named directory, whatever you write at the  
end of the previous sentence (in this case it puts everything in  
"SuperCollider")
then
$sudo scons install
  planet packages do the trick for dependencies. there might be a few  
you need that you may not have, but i'm guessing you do.
