oops... That previous message was meant for the Ardour Mailing list... sorry. Also, I poked around a bit more and found a solution! For anyone interested... I just had to turn off "Hardware monitoring" in the Windows -> Options Editor -> Misc tab in Ardour. I also found it helpful to check the "run plugins while recording" in that same tab...
