At this point I doubt you need to do a fresh install.
It sounds like your install is fresh enough, but let's keep that option in mind.
One thing that just struck me... maybe you are NOT in the right kernel?
Just because you installed the CCRMA kernel does not mean you will
auto boot to it ! In fact, if you follow my directions, your plain (original)
kernel will be the default. So make SURE you are choosing the ccrma
kernel when grub pops up! After you boot, try this:
$ uname -r
2.6.12-0.21.rdt.rhfc4.ccrma
Let me know if that is not it. :)
