Hmmm...
I'm sure you followed the exact commands I did...

Where are you getting that error message? -- I mean,
is it from an app you are running that plays sound? Or
is it in the output during boot up?  etc?


Did you end up doing a BRAND NEW fresh FC4 install,
or have you been running this FC4 for a while?  If you've
been running it for a while have you updated (with apt or yum)
any of the software?  If so... did you ever add any other
repositories to your apt or yum config files?

Have you looked at the ALSA Matrix page for tht sound card?
