Bal,

I just finished my FC4/CCRMA install.
Everything works perfectly and smoothly from start to finish.
It took me only 2 hours from the point of putting in the FC4
install disk, to having jack / ardour / etc running.

I will post the EXACT "how to" very shortly, but I'm going
to recommend making back ups of your personal data, and
getting started with the fresh FC4 install.  We don't know
EXACTLY what might have been messed up, and this was
SO easy, it's a better use of time to be SURE everything is
clean, rather than spend many more hours trying to debug.

Look for the how-to post in a few min... I'll call it
   "From zero to DAW in 2 hours"
