You should not need to do anything special. The particular error message
you are getting sometimes indicates a conflict of libraries, did you
ever install jack manually at some point?

What is printed if you do this? (as a normal non-root user):
  jackd -d alsa -d hw

(BTW: the only difference between root/non-root could be - for a non
configured system - that you can't get realtime privileges, that should
not affect the basic jack startup)
