[PlanetCCRMA] sound cards

Best luck has been seen with the sound cards utilizing the ICE1712 chipset. I have been using the M-Audio Delta 1010 series (there is a less expensive Delta 1010LT) for true multitrack recording. The Hammerfall series from RME also works very well.
For "standard" sound cards, anything fully supported by ALSA will work - but there have been numerous discussions around not attempting to use multiple "cheap" sound cards for multitracking. Trust me, it was difficult getting multiple true multitrack cards to work together.
