My POV only. 90% of this VST stuff doesn't really work. There are
certainly some VSts that do work, at least partially, but for the ones
that do not work there is no full time responsible developer looking
after bug reports and fixing things. My experience has been that I
have to play with specific versions of Wine and limit my use to very
specific VSTs. You then end up running multiple version of Wine to
handle apps vs. VST and in the end the time spent hasn't been worth
the effort, to me anyway.

For anyone thinking that having Fernando do this is going to make it
easy, I'd suggest you try it yourself and see how little does work.

I vote for no formal support until there is a real VST support program
going on somewhere with at least one developer that really wants to
work to make this useful. Until then let it be an individual choice. I
really value Fernando making the mature apps available first. (Uh...I
am compiling k3b and Muse this morning from CVS...) ;-)
