[PlanetCCRMA] FC3 DOA?

I recently installed FC3 with the Planet CCRMA "ll"
kernel and have been having stability problems with it
(two kernel crahses in the last week). FC3 itself also
seems to have lots of issues (system tools crash,
printing works sporadically, and so on). 

Can anyone recommed a reliable and reasonably modern
Linux distribution to run Planet CCRMA on? For the
moment I've gone back to RH7.3, which is very solid
but is too old to run some recent apps.
