Sebastian,
   Interesting problem. Looking at the spec for the ADI-2 is apepars
that it is TosLink and not standard ADAT.

(I hope I have that right. I believe they are different. Normal ADAT
is 8 channels to 48K while TosLink is more the interface of choice on
digital home theater equipment but does go higher in transfer rates.)

   I suspect that the issue may be in telling the HDSP 9652 to operate
in that mode if you insist on using optical to get there.

   My choice in this case would be to try the spdif output from the
HDSP 9652 to the ADI-2. I think (well, I hope...) you'll not have so
much trouble with that.
