I know its been about a week, but I just got time to tweak and test
this. I know there are a couple of Gentoo/CCRMA people on this list
besides for myself (Derek and Mark right?) .

The script barely has to be changed at all.
$ mv rtirq.conf /etc/conf.d/rtirq      #the config file
$ vi rtirq.sh
and change the variable RTIRQ_CONFIG to be:
RTIRQ_CONFIG=/etc/conf.d/rtirq
save the file and then
$  mv rtirq.sh /etc/init.d/rtirq

and then just do an rc-update rtirq <run level> and your golden.

Once again Rui thanks a lot for *all* of your great work in regards to
the kernel sound stuff. It is tremendously appreciated.
