i've been following this thread with great interest. i was considering 
getting the tascam us-122 for my laptop but i noticed some people are 
having trouble with loading the device's internal software. is anyone 
getting any decent latency with this card? perhaps there are ways to 
shorten the buffers or up the polling for usb devices. i read that usbhid 
module has an option to set the polling interval as of kernel 2.6.12 but, 
well, are usb audio devices polled?  i'm not sold on this card but i 
do like the feature set. in any event, i'd be interested in what kind of 
latency people are having with any laptop attachable sound card in linux 
since the inboard ones are kind of week.
