Take a look at the Dec 21, 2003 thread 'Trouble with fc1' in the Planet CCRMA mailing list
archives. That person's problem was solved by commenting out the line in /etc/modules.conf that
names the ata_piix module. Apparently, they didn't have any scsi drives so the ata_piix module
was not needed. Assuming you don't have any scsi disks, commenting out the relevant line should
fix your problem.
