Humm...OK, with this post and Fernando's post I see more of the problem.

Still, it makes me wonder if there isn't a better solution than
creating your own kernel. How about a USB-based NIC? Maybe you don't
even have USB for all I know, or maybe Fernando hasn't built in
support for that sort of device on USB.

Or, do what I did. Rebuild the machine using FC2. Once FC2 is up you
can install the Planet, then build your own kernel (as I did) and then
things still work.

dunno. Lots of choices for you to make. Better you than me...
