Hi all...

The Planet Core kernels of Planet CCRMA have been updated to:
  Planet CCRMA kernel: 2.4.24-1.ll
  RedHat kernel (7.3/8.0/9): 2.4.20-28.1.caps
  Fedora Core 1 kernel: 2.4.22-1.2140.nptl.caps

Not too many changes in the kernels except for important security fixes
(other than a few additional fixes besides security, most stuff in
2.4.24-pre has been pushed to 2.4.25-pre, including the xfs merge).

ALSA has been upgraded to version 1.0.1, with a CVS snapshot dating from
2004/01/08. Hopefully this sound driver update will solve more problems
than it creates :-) I also packaged the alsa-oss(*) tarball, which was
missing from previous versions (to install type "apt-get install
alsa-oss")

For more details on how to install the new Planet Core please visit the
Changelog in the website.

As usual, if you do _not_ want to update the kernel and ALSA sound
drivers (why fix what is not broken?) make sure you comment out the
planetcore line in your /etc/apt/sources.list file.

Enjoy!

(*) from the aoss man page:

aoss is a simple wrapper script which facilitates the use of the ALSA
OSS compatibility library. It just sets the appropriate LD_PRELOAD path
and then runs the command.

This is useful in cases where routing settings (which can be made in
your .asoundrc file) need to be applied to commands that use the OSS
API.
