No it shouldn't matter.

I dont want to discourage you too much, but be aware that at this time
linux audio has a few rough edges - so dont be too supprised if it
involves a bit of poking around in text files and the like. At the very
least you will come out of it knowing a bit about linux system internals.

If you have any Linux using friends prepare to call in some favours :)
