Yes, somebody else reported problems with hdspmixer.

Obviously not what I see here.......
Any clues left behind in /var/log/messages?
You could try enabling the sysrq key handler in /etc/sysctl.conf, after
that the <alt><sysrq> key combination should become active on the next
boot. It may enable you to reboot the system from the frozen state.
