Its on a Pentium Mobile (Centrino), which is halfway between a P3 and a
P4. It could be that the clock sclaing is confusing jack/alsa, but having
strugled to turn it on, I now cant remember out how to turn it off :)

FWIW, I get the "exceeds estimated spare time" even when running at 4096
samples/period, which suggests theres something seriously wrong to me. I
think I can run more relaibly with that period size without RT caps.
