Ron,

	I'm running FC1 on a laptop w/ built-in intel 82801CA sound. I was
able to put an mp3 file on the timeline and play it using the alsa
driver.

To date, I haven't used Cinelerra much for audio, but so far everything
that I've needed worked except for ac3 rendering/export.

Just thought of something -- the only time I had an audio related crash
w/Cinelerra was when I had more than 2 output channels specified in the
preference dialog. Since my soundcard in this machine is stereo only, I
assumed at the time it was because of the mismatch between number of
devices. And if memory serves, this happened using the OSS drivers.
But setting up multiple channels (more than 2) might be the issue -- do
multiple channels work OK under OSS?

If I have time later this afternoon, I'll test some using alsa on a
machine w/ a multichannel card (Delta 1010) and if anything weird
happens, I'll let you know.

	Good luck!

best,
rob
