Howdy list,

My usb emi 2|6 is working WORSE than ever now.  Six months or so ago
when I last had it hooked up I could get at least two channels of clean
audio, now I get a click click click signal with jackd and that's when
I can get any sound at all (better than half the time alsa doesn't even
see the thing though the lights on the interface indicate the firmware
is loaded)... methinks it's an irq thing since now that I'm mobile I'm
left to the wisdom of dell laptop designers to assigning things.

Alsa is configed and working.  So here's the deal, I know the emi2|6
isn't the most standards complient so help me determine whether the
problem is;

-the laptop (which won't be replaced),
-the configuration
-or the audio interface (if so what's a better usb/firewire interface)

Oh, can someone tell me how to tell alsaplayer to use other than the
default audio interface?  alsaplayer -d default=?
