Does this happen when you try to install?

I guess that's unlikely. Most probably something happened when you
copied the contents of the original RedHat cdrom to your hard disk. Have
you checked the original RedHat disk as well? You could also compare the
hard disk rpms to the cdrom using "diff -r".

I'll try to do that soon. I'll have to post more complete instructions
as well because the checksum will depend on the exact same commands
being used, I guess. Sorry for the trouble.
