Derek, as for your JACK recording problem: The current JACK support
is quick and dirty.  I'm not surprised that problems exist.  Prompted by
Jack O'Quin's postings in previous months I'm currently reimplementing
some of the Audio I/O code that will make it JACK-safe/complient and
then hopefully those timing sorts of problems will go away.
