[PlanetCCRMA] [OT?] trouble compiling with CMUCL

Hi, I installed cmucl by doing:

 apt-get install cmucl cmucl-normal cmucl-source

but when I try and run ./configure for a program using lisp I get the error
message:

 checking whether calling lisp code from C works... configure: error: Could
not compile file to test dynamic loading

so my guess is that I need to add a symbolic link somewhere, any help on
where and how would be greatly appreciated...
