I think I may have read about something like this in alsa-user or
alsa-devel. I would use alsamixer (or gamix for something equivalent
with a nicer gui look) to try to raise all volumes and enable all
outputs. Audigy / SBLive have tons of sliders to control the internal
mixer... I don't have one installed that I could use to test.
