[PlanetCCRMA] Re: [Jackit-devel] cannot connect to jack server - cannot connect to default JACK server

OK, the orange light seems to definitely correspond with when this problem
starts, and doing things from the remote SSH terminal doesn't change the
state of the light, so maybe I can try a few things more quickly from here.
I waited until it came on, then tried a jack_lsp from the ssh terminal and
see the problem. jack is dead.

What I'm seeing is that from the remote terminal I can kill the old, dead
jack server and start a new one. jack_lsp now works, which is normal and
like we would expect. This all happens with the monitor's orange light still
on. I suppose the orange light could just be a monitor induced power down
though, and have nothing to do with the video card or the system. Don't know
which.

Keep the ideas coming. I'm doing testing right now to try and get a good
handle on exactly when it happens, and then I'll look at both Linux and BIOS
power down stuff to see what eliminates it. Sort of boring sitting here
waiting for the light to go orange, but made considerably better listening
to an old Marvin Gay CD I picked up yesterday at Tower. He is just so
smooth.

Question - How does Linux/BIOS react to remote connections to the machine
WRT these power down timings? Clearly the screen doesn't wake up when I
logged into it remotely. Does the BIOS timer get reset when emote operations
are taking place? Or is this a platform specific thing?

Thanks all.

Or "apm -i" as root if its an APM thing.
