Ah, OK! Looking at it now (with jack not running), I see 

Mem: 62376K a, 47652K used, 14708 free, 0K shrd, 4076 buff
Swap: 161230K av, 42128K used, 119112K free, 11920K cached

These number probably don't add up exactly: not surprisingly, they keep
fluctuating a bit, and, since for some reason I can't select-and-paste
from that with the mouse, I'm glancing up at them and typing them in by
hand.
