Hi y’all,

It’s time to nominate someone to take over as next year’s CCRMA graduate student rep! I’ve made a Google form (anonymous, as usual) that you can use to submit names: https://forms.gle/bWs3HQEehAXPHa2s7

There are a few things to keep in mind about the position. First, the rep doesn’t have voting rights on any committees. Rather, they collect the questions, opinions, and concerns of the graduate students and convey them to the faculty, either as a whole or through the acting director. Second, the rep must be able to convey those questions, opinions, and concerns without identifying their source, if necessary; discretion is important. Third, the rep is part of the group planning the quarterly town hall meetings, alongside members of the faculty and staff, so should have good relationships with people who will be involved in that process. And fourth, the rep should be able to keep their own views and ideas separate from the views and ideas of the student body in general, both when interacting with the faculty and staff and when soliciting thoughts from other graduate students. In classic CCRMA fashion, the rep can be described as an all-pass filter, passing through the content while obscuring its source and not imposing its own bias on the information (DSP people, feel free to criticize this analogy as you please).

Remember that this position has a one-year term, and nobody can serve more than once.

You can nominate up to three people on the form; if you want to nominate more than that, please submit the form again rather than put multiple names in each line.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Best,
-Noah
