there was silly shell bug in Windows/clisp that i have to fix.
But aside from that issue when i boot the cm.mem image I can use both 
the #& and the #! macros. so i think what possibly happened in your 
case is that you were trying the macros in an image in which cm was 
loaded but not saved. that would explain them not working because they 
are insalled in the cm.mem image not in the original image.

ill update the tarfile later today when it builds and saves correctly, 
and send a message. however i am under real pressure to finish this 
manuscript and i cant test all the examples until next week.

once the ms is done ill freeze cm-2.4.0, test in every conceiveable 
version, then reinstall cm's sourceforge cvs site.
