You're printing "beg" which is always 0 -- perhaps you intend to print "samp". I don't see the 69MB output -- it says 4 samples, and appears to be that at least on the SGI (running just CLM, not within CM). On the earlier def-clm-var problem, I've added an attempt to kludge around this (it's a Linux linker bug), but it'll be a day or two before I make a new clm.tar.gz.
