[Stk] building STK on OSX 10.7.4

Hi 

I'm trying to build the current stk (4.4.4) on OS X 10.7.4, but I encounter the following error when running ./configure .

checking how to run the C preprocessor... /lib/cpp
configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check
See `config.log' for more details.


Because there is no /lib directory on OSX I attempted to fix this  by creating one and putting into it a symbolic link to cpp (which is kept at /usr/bin in OSX), but without success. 

Has anyone successfully built this version of stk on OSX 10.7 ?  I'm unfamiliar with building a c++ library, so any help would be appreciated.
