Here is a short (and late) follow-up on the comment from Martin
Tarenskeen about RT kernel 3.2.16-1.rt27.2.fc16.ccrma.x86_64.rt. I
also installed this on my Fedora system.

This is the first RT kernel that I have used - previously I struggled
with regular kernels, or recently the rtirq switch on standard
kernels. For as long as I have been using firewire on linux (2
years+), I have had varying amounts of xruns with different kernel
versions, and I had learned to accept that this is normal.

Now, using 3.2.16-1.rt27 is like a dream come true. My firewire
system is solid as a rock - no xruns, no matter what the system is
doing, at very low latencies. It's awesome!

Thanks to the ccrma team. You have changed my music world!
