I didn't like Gnome 2, and my (old) laptop isn't powerfull enough to run
Gnome 3.

I have been using Linux since Red Hat 8 and have seen all Fedora version
up to Fedora 16, which I'm using now. I still like Fedora. But I left
Gnome some years ago. Instead I am using LXDE these days, Fast and
lightweight, like Gnome used to be in the old days when Gnome still was a
lightweight alternative to the "bloated" KDE.

You can also try Fluxbox or XFCE as other people suggest, Anyway, no need
to leave Fedora. Just try some of the other desktops and window managers.
There are special LXDE and XFCE Fedora live CD spins that you can try
first before you make a choice. Or maybe you even like KDE better?
