Interesting native Linux softsynths are all available via the official
Fedora and PlanetCCRMA repositories:

zynaddsubfx (Must have)
phasex (This is also a good one)
ams (Alsa Modular Synth)
amsynth (Classic analog substractive synth)
whysynth-dssi (I love this one)
hexter-dssi (DX7 emulator)
nekobee-dssi (funny Lo-Fi synth)

Another, nonfree, killer app that is available in a native Linux version
is Pianoteq. (Also available for Windows and OSX) Pianoteq is a Physical
Modelling software Piano. No sampling! Think of something like the
expensive Roland V-piano, but much more affordable. It is a commercial
product, A working demo (with limitations) is available at

 	http://www.pianoteq.com

It is worth the money. Extra plugins are available for Electric Piano,
Clavinet, Vibraphone, and historical instruments ( Harpsichord,
Hammerklavier ).
