Hi!

A couple of months later I have an update on the issue for whomever
may be afflicted by the same condition.

I bought a dirt cheap PCMCIA card with 2 USB ports (US $8, S&H from HK
to Spain included O_O!) and everything seems to work, so I guess my
on-board USB ports are busted.

Same happened to the previous mobo, fortunately within the warranty
period, so I guess HP/Compaq should install better quality USB
circuitry in their laptops (on the plus side, they marketed this model
-nc6120- without Windows and published the service manual for it, so
we are cool.)

Anyway, it would still be nice if unplugging the USB audio while jackd
is working didn't hang the machine beyond any soft resetting.

Cheers,

L
