> OK, sorry about the noise. I had forgotten about PulseAudio where all of
this is set... FWIW, the alsa driver for the nVidia card in this laptop (MBP
5,2) allows for it to be used in 4ch or 2ch mode. In 2ch mode the sound is
routed to the headphone jack only, and in 4ch mode to both speakers and
headphone (under PulseAudio, running Jack you may choose either or). Modes
are switched in the alsamixer.
