[PlanetCCRMA] Compiling Planet CCRMA kernel for Macbook Pro

I've had rather mixed experiences with the recent Planet CCRMA  
kernels (on Fedora 7) on my Macbook Pro, so I was considering  
recompiling my own to incorporate things like acpi and the macintel  
patches. Has anyone on this list done this and be willing to guide me  
in the process? I'm comfortable with command line utilities, but it  
would be my first attempt at doing something like this.
