[PlanetCCRMA] Looking for console for Ardour/Planet CCRMA

I was looking at the Tascam US-2400 as a console for my FC5/PC box. I'm 
running a very simple, stock, but effective setup:

FC5
Ardour
Jack/QJackctl/JackRack
Jamin
Audacity
Hydrogen
Timidity++

Requirements for console:
More than 8 channels
Low $$$

I'm simply looking a good, effective console. However, $$$ is an object. 
The US-2400 was going to be the fix all. It was around $700 from my 
supplier, which is the same as a Mackie Control Universal which is only 
8 channel. The US-2400 is 24 channel. However, our friends at Tascam 
decided to discontinue the US-2400, soooo....I can't find one.

Does anyone know of a controller using sliders, not knobs, that is 
compatible with the above but is not $1000?  I know the Mackie CU will 
do it, but bang for the $$$, it's not what I'm looking.
